Allergies are nothing to sneeze at. If you’re like me, you want to keep your home allergy-friendly, right?
If you or a family member seems to have more allergy symptoms or breathing problems at home, it may be because there’s a trigger or two that’s making those problems worse. What can you do? It can be as simple as replacing your HVAC air filters or you could go big and invest in a whole-house air purifier.
Hate to tell you, but cleaning your house regularly is another important way to improve things.
What are some specific things you can do to keep your house clean and your allergies under control? Glad you asked…
Keep your bathroom free of mold.
Wash the sheets weekly and in hot water.
Scented cleaners and detergents are a no-no.
- Formaldehyde
- Ammonia
- Sodium lauryl sulphate
- D-limonene
- Sodium hypochlorite
These chemicals are found in many cleaning products, including:
- All-purpose cleaners
- Mildew removers
- Dish detergents
- Dish soaps
- Laundry detergents
- Fabric softeners
- Disinfectants
- Furniture polish
- Drain, oven, and glass cleaners
Avoid shampooing your carpet.
But do vacuum it once or twice a week.
Be the superhero you are!
So while I couldn’t come up with a way to take regular housecleaning off the list (drat!), the good news is that these are fairly simple activities. And when the reward is being able to breathe comfortably at home, it’s completely worth it, wouldn’t you say?
It’s just another way to keep your home happy.
Love, Birdie.
