Along with your New Year’s resolutions to exercise more, eat better (sorry, if you have any holiday cookies left, it’s time to give them away), and to stop using single-use plastic, we humbly remind you to pay some attention to these smart plumbing resolutions. This is the second part of our two-part series, and is filled with good info. Your Happy Home Resolutions should include:
- You can be “plumb” eco-friendly. That’s right, not only is it good for the planet, it’s good for your home and your wallet to cut down on the water running through your pipes. One easy way to do that is to turn the water off in the sink when you brush your teeth. You could save thousands of gallons of water a year!
- Give your pipes a hug. What, it doesn’t get cold enough in Los Angeles to have to wrap your pipes? Even with our warmer temps, it’s never a bad idea to insulate your pipes. It’s a small investment and definite peace of mind when we have an especially cold winter.
- Pay attention to your water quality. Is your water different at home than at work? Are your hands or your hair becoming dry and brittle? The water in your home may be too hard and you could benefit from a house filtration system.
- Install simple, but effective drain guards. This is an easy one. Putting these drain screens over the drains in your home help keep all the stuff that forms clogs from getting into your pipes and causing chaos.
These suggestions, these bits of advice, are to help you avoid potential issues or to make your home more comfortable. As always, though, if you need a professional to take a look, you know who to call. Happy 2020 and all the best to you from Adeedo!
